Chapter Seven - 'Wine not?'

Possibly the oldest wine bar in London. Gordon’s has been kindling the flames of romance for Londoners for centuries. Dark, romantic and cavernous, potential suitors simply need to seek out the deepest, darkest corner where the candles are flickering and with the wine flowing and exquisite cheeses to nibble on, your date should be eating out of the palm of your hand by the end of the night. ‘I’m afraid you won’t get a G&T here’ he said with a broad grin as they pressed through the busy crowd to try and find a table ‘it’s strictly wine only’. They managed to squeeze themselves into a tiny forgotten table behind a large noisy group of finance types. It was dimly lit and with not a lot of space to spare between them - pretty intimate for a first date. ‘I’ll head to the bar – what are you in the mood for’ he asked? ‘Well it would be rude not to go for a red in this place’ she replied, taking in the soft warm candlelit glow against the curved rock walls. As he strode off into the crowd towards the bar. She watched the back of his perfectly tailored midnight blue jacket disappear into a sea of black and grey suits and thought ‘I could be in trouble here’. It was all just a bit too perfect and although she hated herself for even thinking it… practised??
